New Beginnings

For quite a while I maintained a blog called HokieRider.  It was a collection of a wide variety of things I'm interested in.  From my dog, to sports, travel, family, work....it covered pretty much everything.  It also had no real direction.  Each post was a seperate entity and had no frame of reference to any other post. It was total stream of consciousness stuff.

I'm not saying this will be much different.  I'd like to be a little better about updating this blog with some sort of schedule, and I'd like it to make a little more sense.  But I'm not saying either of those will happen.

All I know is I can't get into the HokieRider blog any longer and I want to share my life with my family who doesn't live here.  So here we are.

My name is Lauryn.  I've been married to a wonderful man (who will be referred to as Ejdo) for 7 years.  We live in the Northern Virginia area just outside of DC.  In July I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named Mila.  We also have a fantastic hound-pointer mix named Sawyer.  All in all we live a good life.

Ejdo's family is from the Czech Republic.  His mother came when she was in her 20's and his father's father came when he was in his 20's.  Ejdo and his sisters are 100% Czech, born in the US.  We participate in a Czech organization called Slavic- American Sokol

If you have seen the movie My Big Fat Greek Wedding, then you will start to understand where my blog title comes from.  I live My Big Fat Czech life.  Many things that we do as a family are colored by the Czech paintbrush.  We joke about it often, but I'm finally going to write it down when it actually happens.

So this blog will be about me, my family, my life, my job, my dog, my interests.  Maybe it will even be interesting for someone else to read.
